Bloomingdales—Willowbrook Mall
The project involved the complete interior demolition of all architectural, mechanical and electrical systems on the sales floor and back aisle areas in an existing multi-story department store. The new renovations covered 250,000 sq. ft. of floor area. The existing electrical system was upgraded to handle the increase in lighting load required by the owner, with state-of–the-art lighting systems design using many unique systems including fiber optics. The project involved providing the client with a system that could provide maximum energy savings. Energy efficiency was a prime consideration along with aesthetics. The lighting system was designed so that every circuit within the facility was controlled based on owner’s requirements. The lighting system was segregated by use, including general lighting, housekeeping lighting, exterior, signage, display and casework lighting. A new building management system was provided that allowed all lighting circuits to be controlled and operated only when required, based on the facilities operating schedule. The energy management system was integrated via dedicated communications with the owner’s nationwide energy management system so that all utility metering and demand for mechanical and lighting systems could be monitored and controlled in real time from the corporate headquarters.
